After almost 50 years, the 470 is still the &#8220;right sized boat&#8221;, combining performance and accessibility. It is fast enough for Olympians but can be safely handled by novice sailors. It is durable enough to sail in winds of 25 knots+. It can be sailed by sailors of all ages, from 14 to sailors in their 80s.
